لجنة التنسيق للدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي - المنسق الإقليمي الاكوادور
في عام 1976، عقدت لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية، التي أسستها الدورة العاشرة لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في عام 1974، اجتماعها الأول في روما بحضور ثمانية بلدان من المنطقة. وقد تم تقديم مُقترح في دورتها الثالثة لتغيير اسم اللجنة إلى شكلها الحالي (لجنة التنسيق لهيئة الدستور الغذائي في أمريكا اللاتينية ومنطقة البحر الكاريبي) لأن هذا المسمى يعكس بشكل أفضل عضوية المنطقة. وعليه، وافقت اللجنة التنفيذية في جلستها الحادية والثلاثين التي عُقدت عام 1984 على هذا التغيير وذلك بالنيابة عن هيئة الدستور الغذائي.
وتعتبر منطقة أمريكا اللاتينية والبحر الكاريبي جهة فاعلة هامة في إنتاج وتجارة الأغذية على المستوى العالمي. وتنتج المنطقة ما يكفي من الغذاء لإمداد نفسها والتصدير، حيث تسمح موارد المياه والأرض بالمزيد من الإنتاج.
وتتمتع المنطقة بثروة طبيعية هائلة، وصناعة زراعية مزدهرة، وقطاع زراعي عائلي يخدم سكانها. ويجب مواصلة تعزيز وتقوية سلامة الأغذية على مستوى جميع المناطق لضمان صحة المستهلكين والتجارة العادلة والمنصفة.
ويقع مقر المنسق، الإكوادور، في AGROCALIDAD وهي وكالة ملحقة بوزارة الزراعة والثروة الحيوانية. وتهدف إلى خلق تآزر بين دول المنطقة، لتقديم الدعم المتبادل من أجل التغلب على المشاكل الإقليمية ودراسة الحلول للتحديات المشتركة.
ويهدف المنسق كذلك إلى تعزيز التعاون بين البلدان وتعزيز مشاركة البلدان النامية في هيئة الدستور الغذائي ولجانها الفرعية.

World Food Safety Day at Panama university looks at the chemistry of food safety
The Masters programme in Chemical Sciences with emphasis in Food Safety of the Faculty of Science at the Autonomous University of Chiriquí in Panama, in addition to exhibitions, videos and a radio address, held its 3rd annual Conference on Chemical Residues In Food, Their Impact On Food Safety And Security. World Food Safety Day lessons on foodborne diseases for students in Colombia
In Colombia, students studying food safety at the Fundación Universitaria Agraria commemorated World Food Safety Day over the course of May and June, attending lectures and taking part in a food safety quiz. A video interview was also produced and an information dissemination campaign was deployed through brochures.

Together for food safety in Brazil on World Food Safety Day
Cookery Students of the "Solidarity Kitchens" programme of the non-profit organization, Gastromotiva, participated in an initiative promoted by the Pan American Center for Foot-and-Mouth Disease and Veterinary Public Health of the Pan American Health Organization (PANAFTOSA) and the World Health Organization, framed within the activities organized for World Food Safety Day, which is celebrated every 7 June.

Students celebrate World Food Safety Day in Suriname
To promote food safety the Department of Agriculture Production of the Anton the Kom University of Suriname celebrated World Food Safety Day with an on-campus ‘Food Safety Day Event’.
This day was dedicated to bringing awareness and sharing knowledge with other interested persons, including staff and students of the university, on Food safety aspects and also highlight some information on chemical contamination in food.

Safe food packaging a focus of World Food Safety Day in Ecuador
With the message that food standards play a key role in any production process, the Ecuadorian packaging company FESA held a World Food Safety Day event for its staff on 7 June.
Staff were invited to a food safety talk at the facility and a raffle was held where a number of employees won products produced by FESA customers.

Staff at Brazilian food distributor all play their part in keeping food safe on World Food Safety Day
Brazilian food marketing and distribution company Via Rovigo organized a range of activities for staff on World Food Safety Day to raise awareness about the role they play in ensuring the food they are responsible for remains safe.

Costa Rica Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce marks World Food Safety Day
The Costa Rican Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce has produced a World Food Safety Day video, in which it “recognizes the importance of food standards because they constitute the basis of trust for all consumers.
