Costa Rica & Belize: 2 is better than 1


Belize Internship in Costa Rica.

Within the framework of twinning project of CCLAC and with the support of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), in November 2014, three officials visited Costa Rica from Belize for the purpose of perform an internship to receive a training on management and planning of Codex Alimentarius.

This internship was aimed at:

  • Strengthening the management capabilities of the contact point and the Belize National Codex Committee, through an exchange of experiences between Costa Rica and Belize.
  • Identifying strategies and practices that help improve the participation of Belize in the Codex Alimentarius.
  • Promoting a process of strengthening the internal management of the Codex Alimentarius looking for sustainability, participation and scientific basis.

Belize Workshop

In January 2015, Costa Rica participated in the workshop of Belize with the following objectives:

  • Raising awareness about the importance of Codex Alimentarius and the benefits of participating in the development of food standards.
  • Getting the country's commitment to formalize the National Codex Committee.
