Agricultural survey design and Indicators training in Guinea Bissau

Under the framework of the Global Strategy to improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GSARS), from December 6th to the 12th, 2022, a training course on designing an agricultural survey and indicators took place in the FAO representation in Guinea Bissau.

The training was led by Maurice Taondyandé, a statistician at the Statistics Division of the FAO. The Assistant to the FAO Representative in Guinea Bissau and the Director of Agricultural Statistics opened the ceremony.

The training was aimed to analyze the existing agricultural survey, the choice of priority indicators for the survey and the development of questionnaires.

The 23 participants, (22% were female) came from the Directorate of Agricultural Statistics, the National Institute of Statistics, and the General Directorate of Agricultural Planning, which plays the role of the focal point of the CAADP, the National Institute of Agricultural Research and specific technical departments of the ministries in charge of agriculture, fishing, and forestry.

At the end of the training, the participants expressed their satisfaction with the knowledge acquired, which will make it possible to relaunch the agricultural survey and improve the monitoring of agricultural policies.
