Guinea
Following an in-depth needs analysis through bilateral consultations organized between FAO and Guinea’s counterparts responsible for producing and using agricultural statistics, and based on the information collected through a questionnaire prepared by FAO and completed by the national agricultural statistical team, the following activities, planned for the period 2021-2024, are implemented in Guinea with the aim to fill gaps in different levels of technical expertise and capacities.
- Scholarship Programme: Participation in the scholarship programme;
- Basic Training: Basic training in agricultural statistics;
- LOSSES: Support in collecting, measuring and analysing data on agricultural losses;
- Master Sampling Frame (MSF): Technical assistance in developing, using and maintaining a cost-effective Master Sampling Frame (MSF) to implement an integrated system of agricultural surveys;
- Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI): Training and support to the country in developing, implementing, and maintaining CAPI-based surveys to improve data quality and cost-efficiency of agricultural surveys;
- Dissemination: Develop awareness on the importance of statistical dissemination policies and build the skills required for data dissemination and preservation programmes;
- Indicators: Support in computing timely and reliable CAADP indicators.

The Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics organized a capacity building workshop in Guinea from March 11-15, 2024, focusing on the data processing and analysis of a pilot survey on agricultural losses. This workshop marked another significant step in the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GSARSII) program, which aims to bolster statistical capacity in Guinea.

From 18-22 September 2023, Guinea embarked on a vital initiative to bolster its agricultural data collection capabilities through a workshop as part of the second phase of the Global Strategy for the Improvement of Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GSARSII). This program is pivotal for improving the nation's capacity to gather comprehensive data on agricultural losses, a key element of an integrated national agricultural statistics system. Under the guidance of trainer Audrier Sanou, the workshop engaged twelve data collection agents—of which 58% were women—in an intensive training aimed at enhancing both their technical skills and their understanding of the nuances involved in agricultural surveys.
