Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics

Mauritania

Mauritania joined the 50x2030 Initiative in late 2023, marking a significant step towards strengthening its agricultural statistical systems. During the initial technical missions, it was identified that the country urgently required training on key topics to support the effective implementation of Agricultural Integrated Surveys, such as developing a Master Sampling Frame (MSF) and data processing techniques. To address these needs, several targeted training sessions have been incorporated into Mauritania's 2024 work programme under the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics. The following activities, were implemented in Mauritania with the aim to fill gaps in different levels of technical expertise and capacities.

  • Master Sampling Frame (MSF): Technical assistance in developing, using and maintaining a cost-effective Master Sampling Frame (MSF) to implement an integrated system of agricultural surveys;
  • TOOLS: Technical assistance on the use of tools for data processing and analysis;
  • Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI): Training and support to the country in developing, implementing, and maintaining CAPI-based surveys to improve data quality and cost-efficiency of agricultural surveys;
