On 7–8 September 2023, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, in the framework of the FAO/WHO Codex Trust Fund (CTF) project on strengthening national capacity for sustainable activities Codex Alimentarius, a workshop was held for national food experts and food business operators on Codex Alimentarius and the formulation of national positions in Uzbekistan.

Representatives of bodies involved in food safety - the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Health, the Committee for Veterinary Medicine and Livestock Development, the Agency for Quarantine and Plant Protection, the Agency for Technical Regulation, food operators - were in attendance as well as representatives of WHO and FAO offices in Uzbekistan.

Experts from the national Codex team of the Republic of Kazakhstan participated in the workshop and shared their experience on Codex activities.

The seminar was held in a lively interactive format. Presentations were made on the main documents and procedures of Codex, the role and functions of the Codex Contact Point (CCP), the National Codex Committee (NCC) and the action plan was discussed in support of the CTF project.
