This year's edition of the CODEX magazine, titled "60 years of standards", is out now! Read some of our articles online and click on the link below to download the full publication.

Germany has taken over as Regional Coordinator of CCEURO and Anne Beutling told us how they are preparing for next year’s coordinating committee meeting.
“We have, organized our administrative set up to accommodate the work of Regional Coordinator: we have grown a little team that is able to respond to all requests coming in, with a dedicated email address. We’re very much looking forward to welcoming Members in Berlin next year, where we will hold the formal session in the last week of May 2024. This is the first time that Germany is hosting such a meeting as CCEURO coordinator. We’re shaping the agenda right now, with inputs from the Member States, and with the inputs as usual from FAO, WHO and the Codex Secretariat.

We’ve set up a calendar of events so that all the Members have a chance to discuss and prepare for technical Codex committee sessions, even when they are not in a position to travel to those meetings. For all Codex meetings, we have organized pre-session online events, but we’ve also been busy on the political agenda.

Germany has used its role in the G7 presidency to highlight the importance of a key area for the region: antimicrobial resistance. This has been flagged in the declaration of health and agriculture ministers. The Food Systems Summit and its follow-up activities were also important events for us, where we’ve continuously flagged food safety and its importance. So, the region is really very keen on connecting the discussion to food safety, to food security, how they interlink, and how different changes and drivers were facing. Important external issues, like climate change impacts also need to come into the discussion for us at CCEURO, they need also to be flagged at the level of the Commission. We’re jointly preparing for that discussion as a group.”
