Preparations are underway for the 22nd Korean Food Safety Day

05/05/2023

To raise awareness of the importance of ensuring food safety, Korea is getting ready for the 22nd Korean Food Safety Day. The celebration events will be held on 12 May 2023 in Seoul, ahead of the official day, which falls on a Sunday, on 14 May 2023, and World Food Safety Day on 7 June 2023. The slogan for this year is ’Together for food safety, healthy South Korea’.

On that day Korea will announce the winners of the food safety prize that will be delivered to a person or institution who contributed to ensuring food safety in the country. Also, digital food safety management systems and policies will be displayed in a promotional booth at the event venue so that participants can learn more about Korea’s advancements in this area. The country’s activities within Codex, including the “Action to support implementation of Codex AMR Texts (ACT)” project, and other efforts to reduce antimicrobial resistance will be also presented there.

For more than 20 years, Korea has dedicated two weeks in May as food safety weeks (7 – 21 May) and holds various events to promote safe food.

The celebration will be also broadcast via YouTube. For more information, please visit: www.foodsafetyday.com
