The Iran National Standards Organization (INSO) held an in-person event titled “The Future of Food Safety” for World Food Safety Day on 13 June, with the theme of “Food standards save lives”, which took place in Tehran in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This event, which was held with the participation of stakeholders and food professionals from the industry, academia and regulatory bodies, was an opportunity to provide more synergy between the authorities and experts of food safety in order to promote and participate in the development of national and international standards for facilitating food trade. Also, in a technical panel, there was a discussion and exchange of opinions about solutions to deal with issues related to food safety. 

The speakers spoke on the following food safety topics:

• The future perspective of food safety
• Food safety - risk assessment, opportunities, challenges, and threats ahead
• Development of innovation in food and agriculture
• The role of standards in promoting food safety
