La Región CCLAC - Coordinadora Regional Chile

 

Con más de 600 millones de habitantes, la Región de América Latina y el Caribe es una de las zonas del planeta con mayor diversidad no solo en aspectos étnicos, sino también sociales, culturales y demográficos. Las economías se basan principalmente en la extracción de recursos naturales, siendo en su mayoría industrias mineras y petrolíferas, de manufactura y agrícolas las existentes en la región.

En la última década, la región ha experimentado una profunda transformación social y económica, la que ha levantado a millones de personas por sobre la línea de la pobreza y ha aumentado la población de clase media. Este fuerte crecimiento económico se debe a reformas domésticas realizadas por los gobiernos del Región y un ambiente económico global favorable.

Los principales idiomas oficiales en la región son español, inglés y portugués. Sin embargo, también se encuentran países de habla francesa y holandesa.

De los 46 países que componen esta región, 33 integran el CCLAC y representan un 20% del total de países participantes del Codex.

The Chilean Codex Alimentarius Secretariat, ACHIPIA, organized a seminar on 5 June 2019 entitled “Codex Alimentarius: Strengthening food safety in trade”. Landmark food hygiene discussions begin in Panama

The Codex Committee on Food Hygiene (CCFH) is gathering for the 50th time. Codex Members deliberate priorities for Latin America and Caribbean in 2020-2025

Codex Members of the Latin America and the Caribbean region met in Panama City on 11 November 2018 to discuss the draft Codex Strategic Plan (2020-2025). Guyana ups its Codex game

Earlier this year, the Codex Secretariat launched a series of workshops  in the six Codex regions that are having a direct impact on the operational capacity of countries to engage in the standard-setting process. An ‘original’ risk analysis workshop takes place in the Dominican Republic

Constanza Vergara and Claudio Canales of the Chilean Codex Committee (ACHIPIA) used a methodology that combines science with creativity to build the capacity of food safety risk managers and communicators to analyse risks in a workshop on 28-30 August in Santo Domingo. Codex Trust Fund 2 project launched in Honduras

Honduran officials of the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, the Ministry of Health, the Agency for Health Regulation and the Honduran Organization of Normalization joined the national Codex Contact Point and others in Tegucigalpa to announce the start of a Codex Trust Fund 2 project.
